Alternative Materials 

Magnesium offers reduced weight and similar performance to aluminum but extrudability of larger baseplates and other machining issues, together with increased raw material costs, also render this material unattractive for general purpose Fabfin heatsink production. Zinc offers lower thermal conductivity, when compared to aluminum, and is therefore not attractive for the high performance environment of Fabfin heatsinks.
