Rolled Sheet/Plate Alloys
Alloys 6061 & 6063 are used in plate form for baseplates when
extruded versions are not readily available in a given thickness
or a required thickness tolerance. Aluminum plate, due to its
production process, is inherently more costly than extrusion.
Alloy 1100H14 can be specified as the fin material for a 20%
improvement in thermal conductivity over 6063. This rolled stock
has less surface area for a given fin height when compared to
extruded serrated and corrugated 6063 fins.
